Camp Policies
Please read our policies carefully, including our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section outlining our procedures.
Credit Card Policy
Occasionally we receive a “chargeback” notice from our credit card processor. This means that a cardholder has refuted a charge that has been applied to their account for a camp they have signed a child up for. When this happens we not only have to work with you and the credit provider/processor to get the payment reinstated, but we also incur a $50.00 fee, regardless of the validity of the chargeback. Effective in the 2024 camp season, we will assess families the $50.00 fee for each incorrect chargeback that occurs. This includes for each chargeback for monthly installments.
Cancellation Policy
What if I have to cancel a camp? Will I get my money back?

- If you need to cancel 30 days or more prior to the start of your camp, a $50 deposit will be retained to cover processing costs for EACH camp reservation canceled.
- If you need to cancel within 14-30 days of the start of your camp, a 50% fee will be retained for EACH camp reservation canceled. Each full or half-day session is considered a separate reservation. (This policy is in effect regardless of when a reservation is made.)
- Regardless of when a reservation is made, no refunds will be granted for any camps canceled less than 14 days before the start of the first day of the reservation.
- Due to the complexities of planning and staffing issues, no refunds will be issued for lunch or extended day services.
- Camp fees are established for the entire camp week. Refunds or tuition adjustments will not be issued for unattended camp days.
- If Summer at St. Andrew’s has to cancel a camp for any reason, you will get a full refund.

Late Pick-up
If a camper is not picked up within 10 minutes after the scheduled pick up time, and prior arrangements have not been made to pick up the child late, the parent or guardian will be contacted to pick up their child. If the parent or guardian is not available, the person listed as the child’s emergency contact on their registration form will be contacted to pick the child up. If the emergency contact is not available, repeated attempts to contact the parent, guardian and emergency contact will be made. The child will have to remain on campus until a parent or emergency contact arrives to pick the child up. At this point the parent may be charged for the after care program.
Sick Child
Summer at St. Andrew’s would appreciate notice if a camper will not be attending the program for any length of time due to illness or any other circumstances. If a child who is registered for camp does not show up for the day, without prior notice of their absence, Summer Programs staff will phone the child’s parent or guardian in order to find out when the child will be returning to the program.
If a child becomes ill and needs to leave early, the child’s parent or guardian will be contacted to inform them or the situation. If they cannot come to pick the child up, the emergency contact will be notified. If neither are available, the child will stay on campus in the infirmary until a parent or guardian is reached.
Lunch
We will not have our dining hall open this summer.
If a child who is staying for a full day does not arrive with a lunch, a proper lunch will be provided for that day. Parents will be notified and reminded that students who are staying for the full day need to bring a bag lunch from home. Summer at St. Andrew’s does not provide regular free lunches for campers.
Weather
If the weather is inclement on the day of a scheduled outdoor event, every attempt will be made to reschedule the event; however due to time and scheduling constraints, not every event will be rescheduled as originally planned. Alternate activities will replace the canceled event.
UNREGISTERED CHILDREN
All campers and children in attendance must be registered.
If a child who is not registered arrives at camp for Summer at St. Andrew’s, staff members will approach the adult who brought the child to the program without registration in order to resolve the problem. Records will be checked in order to be assured of the child’s status in the summer program. If a child is dropped off at camp and the adult who brought the child has already left campus, we will check our registration records to check the child’s registration status. If staff members have found that the child is in fact not registered to attend camp that day, the child’s parents or guardians and/or emergency contacts will be contacted immediately to pick the child up.
Field Trips
Be aware that some camps will go off campus on field trips to enhance the camp experience.
Summer at St. Andrew’s reserves the right to make decisions based on unforeseen circumstances. These decisions will be made in the best interest of the campers and staff involved.
Non-discrimination Policy
Summer at Saint Andrew’s does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, economic differences, gender or religion. We aim to build a sense of community and friendship between our staff, children, and parents and/or guardians.

Covid-19 Policies
Summer at St. Andrew’s continues to follow the guidance set by the Rhode Island Department of Health regarding COVID-19 health related issues. Guidelines may change in relation to COVID-19 community transmission activity.
Rearranging Classroom Spaces
We have rearranged classroom spaces to comply with the state guidelines that students need to be at least 3 feet apart. In some instances we have installed plexiglass barriers to provide extra protection.
Cleaning and Hygiene
We have established a daily and nightly cleaning plan, which entails frequently cleaning and sanitizing high-traffic areas (including restrooms, hallways, banisters, door knobs, and switches) throughout the day and nightly sweeping/vacuuming and trash disposal.
Campers and staff will continue to be responsible for frequently wiping down desk tops, furniture, and classroom materials. Classrooms have been equipped with soap and paper towels at sinks so campers do not need to leave their classroom to wash or sanitize their hands.
Masks
At this time masks are optional for campers and staff. This is subject to change in response to guidance from the Rhode Island Department of Health, or recommendations from the CDC..
Distancing
Camps will take place outside as much as possible to allow for distancing. For inclement weather days and indoor camps, we have designated an interior space for each camp to prevent the mixing of campers and counselors from various groups. When seated in indoor classrooms, campers will remain three feet apart or more.
When should my child stay home?
If your child is showing any symptoms of illness, please notify the camp nurse at 401-246-1230 to discuss their symptoms and determine if they are well enough to come to camp.
Children must stay home if they have:
- A fever of 100.0°F or greater
- Diarrhea or nausea/vomiting
- Shortness of breath Body aches/pains or chills
- Complaining of stomach pains
- Loss of smell or taste
- Cough/congestion
- Headache (accompanied by another symptom)
- Sore/Strep throat
- Pink eye
- Any other illness
Children can return to camp once they have been symptom-free for 48 hours, received a doctor’s note or negative results from a COVID-19 test at a designated state approved facility (no home tests accepted), or been treated with antibiotics for 24 hours (strep throat and pink eye).
In the event of a COVID-19 exposure at camp, your contact information may be shared with the Rhode Island Department of Health for contact tracing purposes.
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
How can I register my child?
You can register by clicking the “Register” link on this website, or on our online portal: http://sasri.campbrainregistration.com Registration will open on February 1, 2024.
Is there before or after care? What is the earliest I can drop off my child?
Yes. Early drop-off begins at 7:30 a.m. Late pick-up ends at 5:00 p.m. There is an extra charge for early and late services: $60.00 per week for mornings, $75.00 per week for afternoons.
Does my child need to attend St. Andrew’s in order to attend one of your camps?
Absolutely not! All students are welcome at Summer at St. Andrew’s Camps. In fact, last year more than 70 percent of our campers were not St. Andrew’s students.
My child is a little nervous about attending camp for the first time. Can I take a tour of the school before I register?
Of course. Reach out to Charley Pelissier, director of summer and auxiliary programs, at cpelissier@standrews-ri.org or 401.246.1230 to set up an appointment.
What should my child bring to camp?
- All campers should bring a water bottle to camp.
- Most camps spend some time outside during the day. Campers should have sunscreen with them, and also applied before they arrive. The Adventure Program spends most or all of the day outside, so this is especially important for them.
- Campers in the Adventure Programs may spend some time at the beach. The Voyager program also may engage in some water play (sprinkler, slip-n-slide) during on campus times. For these reasons campers in both of these camps should bring a swimsuit and towel to camp.
- You will receive an email the week before camp starts with additional information with specifics regarding your child's camp.
- Campers attending full day programs will need to bring a lunch to camp.
Will my child need a lunch?
Our dining hall is not open this summer, your child will need to bring their own lunch.
What are the hours of camp?
Most camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A few specialty camps have different hours. For instance, the Hoops with Hart program has a noon dismissal on Fridays.
Where do I drop my child off in the morning and pick them up at the end of the day?
That depends on your camp. You can see the map here for specific information about your child’s particular camp. Please note that all early drop off and late pick ups will be at the McCulloch Center for the Arts, accessible by the Upper Campus Road.

Is St. Andrew’s a religious camp?
St. Andrew’s is not a faith-based camp.
What are your COVID and masking policies?
Currently masks are not required at camp. We work closely with the Rhode Island Department of Health and follow all local state and federal guidelines in regards to COVID-19. Please check back often, as these regulations often change. You can see more details about our Covid-19 policies here.
Does my child need to be vaccinated in order to attend camp?
At this point we are not requiring campers to be vaccinated.
Who do I contact if my child has specific health requirements?
You can contact the camp director, Charley Pelissier, or our camp nurse at 401.246.1230.
What happens during inclement weather?
In most cases, camp will proceed as normal, with some shifting of locations to provide adequate weather protection. In the case of severe inclement weather, any cancellations will be communicated through email, social media, and the website.
What are the counselor-to-camper ratios?
Our ratios vary depending on the age level of the campers, and the type of program. We have a 1 to 5 ratio for our youngest campers. Larger groups are allowed for older campers and academic programs.
Is there a lost and found?
Yes, a lost and found area is kept in the McCulloch Center for the Arts Building.
Do you accept international campers?
Yes, we do accept day campers who live internationally, but they must have their own local lodging secured.
Are there payment plans?
We do have monthly payment plans available on our registration portal.
Do you offer financial assistance?
We do not currently offer financial assistance.
